So what exactly is a CrossFit douchebag and how can you become an athlete without turning into an annoyance to people around you.
How NOT to Be a CrossFit Douchebag
On his Instagram profile, Dziwulski shared some fun anecdotes about how not to be a CrossFit douchebag.
And we start with the most common and easy one:
1. Not shaming someone else for scaling the workout or for doing workouts with their shirt still on.
Shaming people might be the most common thing in CrossFit doucheness – if such a word exists. And that is more apparent when someone is scaling the workout, meaning they are doing the “easier” version of a given workout.
That could mean someone is using a lighter kettlebell for swings, or doing pull-ups instead of muscle-ups for any given workout. Just because they are scaling, doesn’t mean you need to call them out. Everyone starts somewhere.

2. Just because you are wearing a vest, doesn’t make you better than everyone
This next one hits harder now that Memorial Day has passed. Hero workouts in CrossFit, sometimes, has a weighted vest as part of the workout – like Murph. But if someone doesn’t wear a vest, doesn’t mean they are not doing the right workout, it only means they are not at that point in their fitness life yet. No need to shame, or even think you are better just because you are using a weighted vest and someone else is not.

3. No need to chalk if you are running
Chalk! My goodness, what is it with CrossFitters that they need to chalk up every time before a workout. That is understandable if you are doing exercises on a pull-up bar, or doing Olympic weightlifting as part of a Metcon, but you don’t need to chalk your hands before a running workout.
”We never need chalk on our forearms,” Dziwulski says.
4. No need to shout “No Rep” to someone else working out
Even if a person next to you is doing squats without the proper depth, or not locking out their arms when snatching (for example), you don’t need to go over to that person and say “no rep” as if you are better or know more about CrossFit than them.

You are not the coach, or judge, of that person’s WOD. So keep it to yourself.
It is with such attitudes that some people even might get discouraged from continuing to CrossFit later – and all because you became a CrossFit douchebag.
5. Ripped hands posting
We all know that your hands will get ripped while doing a very intense CrossFit workout. That is to be expected. What we don’t need is to be shown how ripped your hands got while scrolling through our social feed on Instagram, TikTok or Twitter.
Seriously, it can be disgusting and people doesn’t need to see that.
